Days 2 and 3

Well, Joshy has been sick with a nasty runny nose and fever so we have not been doing much school. Yesterday he did play with the color beanbags for a little while and played with his red kool-aid play-doh. Today I am thinking about doing a shape/color puzzle with him and doing some lacing cards. Hopefully, he will get over this so we can get back to finger painting, making more play-doh, etc. Let me know if you are interested in the Kool-aid Play-doh recipe or site where I found the coloring sheets and I can post them for you! Hope you are having a great day in all of your adventures!

First Day of School!!!

We decided to start out our year learning about colors. I haven't yet decided when or how I am going to teach him to read, so I thought I would wait a few weeks to start letters. I also got to get out some of my teaching stuff which was fun for both of us! We started by tossing colored bean bags back and forth and saying each color name. He did a really good job pronouncing each color. Then I put four bean bags on the floor and had him pick out the red ones. He did a great job at that too....until I put them with a yellow and orange.....of course, I also noticed today that his attention span is really short so I am not sure if he didn't know or if he was just done playing that game!

Then we used our red crayon to color pictures of an apple and cherries. Later in the day we also colored pictures of a radish and a star.

Next we did one of the things all kids LOVE to do!!! We fingerpainted!!! We have never done this before so it was a totally new experience for him. Again we used red and he did a very good job at not getting it on himself.

Look at my hands Mommy!!! He was done with his first masterpiece so I cleaned him up and let him do it again!

"Look Mama!! Look at this!" This is what he kept saying as he was painting!

After we were done fingerpainting, we got out bugs and picked out the red ones. Again, he did good for a while but then he just wanted to make the bugs fly around!

Next we decided to lace a red heart with a red lace. He is really good at lacing! I love how he concentrates so hard on it!

This was his finished heart! He was so proud of himself and Mommy was proud of him too!

After playtime, lunch, and pretend nap time (he sits in his room, today yelling Mommy! while I sit in the other room praying he sleeps...he didn't today) I made him some Kool-Aid Play-doh! It was really easy to make and Joshy had a blast playing with it. He rolled it, used cookie cutters in it, and cut it with a play knife. I was suprised how long he played with it.....and then he started crumbling it up so I knew we were done with the play-doh!

He was proud of himself for making a star!!!

After play-doh time, we had gym class. He amazed me that he could run across the room, throw his basketball, and make a basket! I got that, and some of the rest of the day on video tape so Daddy could see all the fun we had!
I didn't do everything I was planning on doing with the color red, but we definately did enough. Tomorrow it is on to orange!!!
